All in all a good day

I just got back from the clinic after my egg retrieval. We got there around 1pm and they took me back to my room to start my IV and ask the general questions. It took them 3 tries to start my IV, and all attempts were in my hands. They both hurt, and feel bruised. My Dr was the one to perform the procedure, which was great, not only because we really like him, but he knows us and our case. They wheeled me back around 2pm and at that time, Jason was directed to his special room for his deposit. He was excited to see that they didn't take him down to the dungeon, apparently you get an upgrade when you do IVF. The procedure didn't take more than 20-30 minutes, and they collected 18 eggs total. This is both mature and immature eggs, so we will find out tomorrow how many eggs were mature and how many they were able to successfully fertilize. The embryologist will call tomorrow with this information. Our Dr was very positive, and we are planning on a day 5 fresh embryo transfer, so we are planning on Sunday. I am just to take it easy the next couple of days, I have started taking my steroids and antibiotics today and will start the progesterone in two days. I will start my estrogen in 9 days. The day of the embryo transfer will go easier than today, no IV, just valium that I swallow. I will also do acupuncture before and after the transfer to help me relax and to help my uterus relax.

Jason is so sweet, I really wanted to paint my toenails before the retrieval, but I can't reach my toes easily with all my bloating. I also didn't want to pay for a pedicure, so I was able to talk Jason into painting my toenails for me. It took some persuasion and a little guilt tripping, but he finally succumbed, and painted them last night for me. I am the luckiest girl ever, and he is the sweetest guys ever!
