"Beam me Up Scotty"

Today was an amazing day! We completed our embryo transfer! Jason seemed much more nervous about the whole experience than I was...he could hardly sit still and was singing random parodies of songs and curiously investigating all of the medical equipment in the room. Even our doctor was surprised about how nervous he was. Dr. G said, "That's surprising because he is the one that is always so quiet." If he only knew! Our transfer began with a session of acupuncture to help calm my nerves, improve my "chi" and increase blood flow. Following our acupuncture, our nurse visited with us and gave me some medicine to ease my mind. Dr. G and the embryologist were soon in the room. They showed us our two growing embryos on a screen. One had grown to 8 cells and the other to 6 cells. Jason snapped a few pictures...crazy to think that we got to see our potential children as microscopic cells....wow! When Jason was looking at our embryos on the screen he said, "Man, they look smart." Everyone, including the doctor laughed and said they sure did! They looked great! Dr. G performed the transfer easily...almost uneventful...but successful! The transfer required a full bladder. After the first acupuncture treatment, I was told to chug my water. Then an ultrasound tech came in to look at my bladder, which was pretty full at that point, and she said, okay stop drinking now, you are full. The transfer was performed under ultrasound guidance, and the ultrasound machine works best when looking through a larger body of fluid, thus the full bladder. That was a fun and comfortable experience having them push on my full bladder with the ultrasound wand as they were trying to visualize the best place to put the embryos. We will find out on Feb. 7th if we are in fact pregnant. Until then it is just the waiting game. For now I will be taking progesterone and estrogen...no office visits until the 7th...yeah! All this driving back and forth to Denver has been tiring...our poor Jeep is tired too! This will be a special day as Jason and I began dating 10 years ago on this date...this could be the best anniversary gift yet...so please, keep your fingers crossed and positive thoughts heading our way!
